Sankat haran sabh siddh-kikaran chan? taaran taran sharan lochan bisaal hai||
The large-eyed Chandika is the remover of all sufferings, the donor of powers and support of the helpless in ferrying across the fearful ocean of the world;

ood(i) jaakai aakai aaham hai ant ko na paaraavaar sharan ubaaran karan pratipaal hai||
It is difficult to know her beginning and end, she emancipates and sustains him, who takes refuge in her,
 

Asur sMGwrn Aink BuK jwrn so piqq auDwrn Cfwey jmjwl hY]
Asur sanghaaran anik bhukh jaaran so patit udhaaran chha?aae jamjaal hai||
She destroys the demons, finishes various types of desires and saves from the noose of death;

Devihar laaik saduddh(i)hoo kidaaik su deh bar paaik banaavai granth haal hai||7||
The same goddess is capable of bestowing the boon and good intellect; by her Grace this Granth can be composed.7.

Addra sutaa hoon kijo tanayaa Mahikhaasur kimartaa phun(i) joo||
She, who is the daughter of the mountain and the destroyer of Mahishasura;
 

ieMdR ko rwjih kI idvXw krqw bD sMuB insMuBih doaU ]
Indra ko raajah(i) kidivayoo kartaa badh Sunbh Nisunbhah(i) dooo||
She, who is the bestower of the kingdom on India by killing Sumbh and Nisumbh;
 

jo jp kY ieh syv krY br ko su lhY mn ie~Cqw soaU ]
Jo jap kai eh sev karai bar ko su lahi man ichchhtaa sooo||
He, who remembers and serves her, he receives the reward to his heart’s desire,
 

lok ibKY auh kI sm qu~l grIb invwj n dUsr koaU ]8]
Lok bikhai uh kisam tull gareeb nivaaj na doosar kooo||8||
And in the whole world, none other is the supporter of the poor like her.8.

When the earth was overburdened by the weight and fear of the demons, she assumed the form of a cow and went to the sage Brahma;
